okay, i like the pose, not sure about tones and contrast. i wish there was more detail on her face or expressions but her pose delivers more to image [mind you i am only talking about photograph...i like your landscape photographs] everyone else is talking about model and how beautiful/sexy/attraative she is [i dont think that is driving me here to say its a knockout or a great picture].

any nude picture nicely done of a gorgeous lady would be highly appreciated...thats animal instinct....just being honest.

i am not sure if you would have replaced model with an ordinary female you would have received this kind of response.

The pose is quite nice. I agree about needing more light on her face. (a reflector could have helped) Also, ....the "rain" is only coming down on the left side of the picture. It would be more believable if the water was coming down all around her. As unfortunate as it may seem, ...after reading through the critiques, ...I almost feel like I should apologize for commenting on the photograph instead of commenting on the model.

Good photo of a very beautiful girl. I wonder though...is it really raining? Seems to me that the "rain" is very directional. Also, the pole or tree in the area where her left arm bends at the top right tier of the picture is somewhat distracting for me. Otherwise, congratulations on a very sensual photograph.

Easily one of the best nude shots I have seen in this style. Very tastefully done with eye-catching action, lovely tonal range, and a lovely model. Though there are some that have pointed out some valid issues in regards to lighting of the face, etc., as a whole, the picture does entirely capture the attention - as suggested by the ratings - and that is what photography is all about. I suspect this one will be seriously considered for photo-of-the-week! :-)

guys get a life! this image oozes sexuality in the most basic way, model is real, everything about her is real, her feelings are real..Image captures what this girl is all about. Is this not the whole point of photography? To capture the subject the way photograper is experiencing it?

Happy and playful shot. You can see that both the photographer and the model are havin fun. This playfulness makes it great and different from most of the nudes I have seen. It's not about sex it's about living and noticing. It's about the grace of a women. Beautiful.

Seriously, there is not much to critique. Very nive picture, good composition, nice tonality of grays, beautifull Gitane...

One question though : it seems as though there is no rain on the roght side of the picture ? But this is, to me, a minor detail.

Thanks to all, I'm deeply touched by your comments.

I may make a folder for "Gitane alone"

(luky bum)I agree, It's a real privilege to work in such conditions.

I'm flying back to Europe in Three hours time, I'll come back to you from there.

Of course, nothing was there at the origine, except for the tree, as for the light on her face, I did'nt want to change it in PS, even if I thought I could, my feeling was that it give a little bit more mood to the picture, kind of secret mood, not complety offered to view, if everything is to clean and to perfect, it become picture perfect, but less moody or natural!! ??

I have difficulties to express it exactly............

Bye....I have to go......

Thanks again.

Mille Merci.

Sometimes people say things like "You are rating the model and not the photo." In my opinion, that is an oxymoron. The photo IS OF A MODEL.

If you compose and light a pile of sh*t perfectly, it is still just a photo of feces, that will be revolting to most anyone who looks at it. In other words, It is part of your job as a photographer to shoot things that are interesting, or stimulating, or aesthetically pleasing, like Gitane and her big... leaf.

There is something very classic abou this shot, the mode is sensual and the woman feels very real. very nice job!

picking up on the comment about the left side of the pic, will the shot look more "balanced" if the raindrops was on both the left and right?

Mario says "Image captures what this girl is all about. Is this not the whole point of photography? To capture the subject the way photograper is experiencing it?"

To answer your question...no this is not what photography is all about...Photography is about creating an illusion of perfection. When you order a Big Mac...does it look like the duratrans on the menu board or like the billboard you just passed on the highway? NO! It doesn't look nearly as perfect.

If you have ever seen a Supermodel or a hollywood starlet in person in the midst of their everyday life...you can't even recognize them as the same perfect woman that you saw on the magazine cover or in the movies.

So, photography is about creating illusions of perfection. And this image is far from perfect. Entertaining? Yes! Well concieved and designed? Yes! Attractive Model? Yes! A perfect photograph which gives the illusion of perfection? Far from it!

Dream

Scott says "Photography is about creating an illusion of perfection" - I think in this type it is not perfection but a dream you are creating, and the humanity of the model makes the dream all the more convincing. We all know that the set-up is artificial but the "suspension of disbelief" allows us to join this mythical magical moment....

Congratulations, Jonathan
