thad 0 Posted July 27, 2001 I know its not an origanal idea, its just a simple shot of a pretty flower, but I thought the execution was fair, and that it was quite pretty, nice colours, reasonable focus, acceptable composure. Did it really deserve the 1 & 2 out of 10 it got from Sherman Stebbins? Is it really that bad? I'm sure I've seen worse. Link to comment
calloway 0 Posted July 27, 2001 I wouldn't say it's that bad, but there's definitely room for improvement. The apparent lack of sharpness bugs me, as does the small splash of magenta in the lower right corner. And I probably wouldn't have framed the picture as tightly on the top and bottom. Anyway, don't forget to always take ratings with a grain of salt, especially when you're questioning a single rating. People have varied tastes; perhaps that rater isn't fond of roses. sandino 0 Posted July 27, 2001 Regardless of what can be improved, this is a nice flower shot. Don't get discouraged by a single rating; I have seen ratings of 1/1 on some of my photos, even when other people have rated the same photo very high. We all have different ways of looking at the same thing, and some people are more "perfectionists" than others, perhaps making them stricter when rating photos. Next time try to capture a rose bud together with your main subject. Good luck. Rene Link to comment
jwenting 0 Posted July 27, 2001 Bad shot? Not really, but could have been a lot better. It is quite soft, to the point of looking slightly out of focus. This could have been caused by the scanning or postprocessing, in which case you should redo it to get a better result. Link to comment
