I like the concept but there's too much gray.

What a great idea. I especially like the tilt in the last frame. Do you think there might not be enough variation in tone in the space around the face?

CRAP! I thought I was being creative! Who is Sousa? Jack is that your photo? Id like to say mine is different but it might just be because Im to cheap to have any huge prints around (good thing)

 

Below is a post of the real shot, I remember seeing baby and some wedding shots like this (high key and washed out) from the 70's

 

I tried it with Sara on matte paper with a very light grey border in an 11x14 frame, I like the light look because the eyes jump off the paper
