Through the eye of the Buffalo

mikecarruthers

The sun may not have been friendly, but the Bison sure were. Most of my shots of them were in Macro because they were so close my 18-55mm wouldn't take it any other way. The only manipulation of this frame is that it's cropped. Luckily, it's the image I wanted because I hit the save button after getting it here and lost the original image after formatting my card. I had already shot some more pictures on the card and wasn't able to recover the image. Probably wouldn't have got it back even if I hadn't put more pictures on it. That's ok, since these guys are captive subjects. I'm sure I'll be back, more than once.

I have to say that a large bull Bison is an imposing animal.

Especially when he is able to snesk up on you and you only feel his

presence. Then you turn and this is the site you are greeted with.

Luckily I was able to keep it together long enough to remember how to

switch to Macro and catch this huge animal so close. After the shot

al I could do was sit there in awe at just how big these things are.

The picture may be pretty cool to go along with the story, but unless

you can see the goose bumps on my arms when I look at this: I'm

afraid the picture doesn't do such an experience justice. Please

feel free to let me know what you think. Thanks for looking
