ljk 0 Posted March 18, 2004 I find it fascinating that life can take hold in such a barrenlandscape....Comments? Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 18, 2004 Ferns are tough, and their spores can take a foothold in just about anything. Some interesting information here:http://amerfernsoc.org/lernfrnl.html Link to comment
rochelle_ballard 0 Posted March 18, 2004 You certainly have an idea about what is original. It is such a pity that there's insufficient DOF. I think the purlplish background deserves some adjustment as well, although its present state contrasts well with the sharp yellow. Cheers. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 18, 2004 Rochelle, the lava field was indeed this color which made it so striking against the green fern. DOF was very intentional.....Thank you for your comments. Michael, I can count on you to be a wealth of information :-) Maybe those spores were just settling in the crack of least resistance! Thanks again, Sar! Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted March 18, 2004 I like this one a lot Linda. I see why you have kept the "blurred background" in this one. The rule of thirds makes for a nice composition. Great capture, and I get a science lesson as well. Thanks for visiting the Zippy folder. She truly is the queen of the internet. Word has it she invented Al Gore, but it is just a rumor. stp 6 Posted March 19, 2004 I like images like this -- a small patch of life trying to survive in a very difficult situation, like your previous shot of a small piece of marine algae in the ripples of sand, or like my shot of a small patch of red flowers in a crease along a granite rock. I would have voted for DOF extending back along the crack to the second plant (and beyond)....I just want to maintain the visual connection between the two. I think your placement of the plant and the crack in the image is right on. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 19, 2004 Stephen, I agree the extended DOF would have been good as well. I feel this was a difficult place to get a good shot because of the vastness of the lava field, and so I tried to focus on one small part of it.... Roberto, thanks! Jeff, Zippy [and you] can visit anytime...:-) Link to comment
w. roger keagle 0 Posted March 19, 2004 I love to see where Nature wins.....against any force, in this case, Her own. I have seen mushrooms come though the pavment, soft and yeading yet strong and forceful....I like this Linda !WYMM? *R* Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted March 20, 2004 Spores settling in the crack of least resistance... sounds like a Ken remark. :-) Link to comment
