single photos Macabre Flicker
While sitting on our deck one afternoon there were loud squawking sounds out behind the house. I went to investigate and found a Flicker that was injured and cornered by our cats. We caught the bird and took it to bird rescue. We later learned the bird had to be put down because of a dislocated wing and a missing beak. The next day we found the beak stuck in an upstairs window screen. When the bird hit the screen, the window was closed and the impact apparently snapped off the beak. I normally do not photograph dead animals but this was just so bizarre.
