The prayer (cyanotype version)

gauthier

Cyanotype. Contact printed from a 4x5 negative, then slightly toned in chinese tea to get this dark violet color. See my "Portraits" portfolio for the silver gelatin version of this image and a few others from the same session. (Uploaded March 13, 2004)

This is contact printed from a 4x5 negative using the cyanotype

technique (first described in 1842). The blue image was toned for

about half an hour in warm chinese tea to turn to this dark violet

color. Does this technique fit the subject matter?

I think that this photograph works well, the subject, pose and sombre tones give it a " Victorian " feel quite in the style of Julia Margaret Cameron
