kris_haskins 0 Posted July 7, 2001 I agree that this photo seems to stand out from many of the other flower pictures. I think the composition is what makes it so. Your use of tone is interesting. The selective focus is nice too. I would like to see a tad more detail in the petals, and I think the flower would still stand out well in its background. Link to comment
richard_lowery 0 Posted July 21, 2001 --nicely done, Steve. Leaf patterns and tone add to purity of the beautiful dogwood blossom. Link to comment
jerrymat 3 Posted May 18, 2002 It stands out definitely because of the composition. So many flower pictures look like a botany book illustration, detailing the number of stamen, petals and sepals. This is a well composed work of art with the flower in counterpoint to the leaves, with a gradual fade off of light into the dim background. One can analyze composition by becoming aware of how one's eyes move when looking at the image. Mine jump to the flower, drop down the stairstep of leaves to the bottom, then trace the leaves upward in a circle that returns to the flower again. Perfect! Link to comment
