hiroya 0 Posted March 10, 2004 I'm not sure if the composition is good or not. Comments are welcome. Link to comment
svkamaraju 0 Posted March 10, 2004 The finger being right in the center of the photograph upsets the setting a bit. Else, I think the idea is creative Link to comment
hytham 0 Posted March 10, 2004 Very Nice Photo. I wish if the skin tone looked more natural. Link to comment
nathanwells 0 Posted March 10, 2004 very interesting - the one thing I would change is take off the foreground string on the guitar that is blocking the finger - that would help things look nicer I think. Great shot Link to comment
hiroya 0 Posted March 10, 2004 I appreciate your helpful critiques. Now the weak points of this photo are becoming clear, composition and color tone. And, I intended to capture the foreground string out of focus, but I understand it is not effective. Link to comment
kenneth_logan 0 Posted March 11, 2004 I'm not so convinced that the front string is not effective. Playing the instrument, after all, involves exciting a string into vibration. Whether the "out of focus" effect is totally focussing or involves motion of an "excited" string is unclear to me, but I do believe that the foreground string adds a dynamic element that strengthens the composition. It also helps to establish a nearly-horizontal reference that helps us to see how far down the next string is pushed by the finger. I'd leave the foreground string there. Link to comment
hiroya 0 Posted March 13, 2004 Thank you Kenneth. I didn't think of "excited" string effect. It's a really new point of view to me. I think I should try some different DOFs to find the way to express distance between each string most effectively. So, now I'm doing experiment with DOF, composition and lighting on the similar subject. I appreciate your suggestions. Link to comment
erin.e 0 Posted April 29, 2004 Nicely composed pic with original thought, personally I find the lighting on the finger a bit harsh, too much contrast between the dark fretboard and the almost burned out front of the finger. Link to comment
