Funny, I didn't think this image should be cropped at all. I particularly liked the composition in this image with the upper half of the background being the same sort of tones as the bobcat's fur.

 

In order to make it easy to recognize that this is a bobcat, not just a really fat-jowled tufty-eared housecat, I think the cat's shoulder over ears is vitally important evidence to have in the picture because it suggests the shape of the rest of the cat not shown in the photograph, the distinctive bobcat shape.
