terry_mcconnell 0 Posted March 4, 2004 Comments & brutal critiques welcomed. Too common? Looks like it should be on the discard pile among a stack of vacation photos? How do you really feel? Link to comment
dkord 0 Posted March 9, 2004 Is the bird out of focus or is the photo enlarged so much it's past the detail point? Sand behind it looks a bit sharper... Also a tighter crop would help: I keep looking at the wave at the top of the frame. I would crop below it, making the image more rectanglar and it'll allow the natural lines to flow towards the bird. Overall the image looks flat, maybe a little more contrast might help. I'll like to see it in high contrast black and white. Link to comment
terry_mcconnell 0 Posted March 14, 2004 Actually, I hadn't really noticed that the bird *is* a bit soft and the sand behind him is more in focus. I'm continually amazed at the time that people are taking in this community to really share their opinions and get across their point of view by taking a moment and re-composing an image for a fellow user. Thank you. I've been taking a lot of sport shots lately and I'm really sensing the value of fast focus. I think this is providing the type of practice I need to be able to catch a shot like the one above with a bit more precision. As for the wave in the upper left, I actually sat waiting for this condition in the photo because I wanted to draw the eye around the image. In your cropped version, I think just the line of the surf does that, though. Again--- thanks for taking the time to look, think, and share. Link to comment
