nancy_reynolds 0 Posted July 27, 2000 I was very drawn to this image. The girl looks curious and contemplative. The roots make a wonderful foreground leading your eye to the girl. Generally I don't like people looking out of an image, but I really think it works well here. Good work! Link to comment
dlakelan 0 Posted August 7, 2000 This photo is very nice compositionally, and the lighting is excellent. I love the wrinkly roots and the way the subject is posed. I just wish it weren't quite so soft. Link to comment
richard_dawes 0 Posted August 7, 2000 I like it and yet I don't. Keep coming back to it though. It has (vague) overtones of Tolkein fantasy. In essence it make one think and that sounds like good photography to this antipodean amatuer. Link to comment
david_logeman 0 Posted August 8, 2000 Very nice shot, but cropping off the bottom half would make a better picture, in my opinion. Link to comment
tayyab_raza4 0 Posted August 9, 2000 Very nice use of roots in forground giving the photo a sort of philosophical touch. A little softness enhances the basic idea. Very nice. Link to comment
helen_tracey 0 Posted August 12, 2000 I found the photo rather haunting. I think it is excellent. It is interesting how the roots draw you in towards the young girl. I also like the expression on her face which you have captured well. Link to comment
june_fox 0 Posted August 12, 2000 Impressionistic, thought provoking, and technically impressive. A picture I would be proud to have taken. Link to comment
evan zamir 0 Posted August 19, 2000 It's interesting that you framed it so the girl is looking away from the center of the frame towards the outside. I think most people would have not "broken" this rule, but it works in your photo. Gives it more of a dramatic sense. Nice. Link to comment
diane_sherman 0 Posted September 15, 2000 I like that a young girl is looking out, toward a future perhaps, from old roots. And I like that the roots are nice and big in the foreground and then shoot up straight, very stable, protective, not going anywhere, but still expanding. She looks very at home there -- a family tree. Link to comment
janice_hobbs 0 Posted December 31, 2000 Very nice shot! Looks very classic and like an painting. Very detailed as well. Looks almost like a scene in a classic scary flick! Link to comment
gunes 0 Posted January 18, 2001 I like the way the girl is camouflaged in the tree. Is this a pose or a natural shot? Link to comment
dogzen 0 Posted January 20, 2001 Allmost kitch but not, as someone else commented above (Diane Sherman) it's "toward a future perhaps, from old roots". Maybe Mr. Sultan's intention was for his image to speak to Pakistans future where the subject's attention is outside the frame. Link to comment
fulload 0 Posted March 19, 2001 I love the overall composition of this image, as well as the fact that when you look carefully, you can actually see the childs hand, her feet and her tiny sandals. Wonderful texture, contrast and tonal range. ginette greene Link to comment
johnny_ly 0 Posted April 19, 2001 Great shot. I wouldn't change a thing. Hope you get some well deserved recognition. Try selling it for book covers because it's quite haunting yet beautiful. Link to comment
