ugo_ortolano 0 Posted February 25, 2004 Took that picture in Jodhpur, the blue city in the middle of Rajhastan, India. I shot about 20 pics on that man. The color ones were ok but I surely prefer the B/W version better. For that B/W I used layers in PS / Chan. mixer. Hope you enjoy it... Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 25, 2004 The B&W is very effective, creating a strength and mood to the image, and emphasizing all of the wonderful texture. Excellent portrait. You captured it beautifully! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted April 5, 2004 Returning a comment. I cold have picked any as I truely appreciate your work - as you mentioned it is of a similar vein to my own. The other thing I notice with your work is a knowledge of what mid to low-key B&W should look like, especially when converting from colour. So few these days seem to be aware. I noticed you mentioned converting with the channel mixer in PS. From some experience, I have found 3rd party filter like www.theimagingfactory.com "Convert to B&W Pro 2" is significantly better. These filters allow you to prefilter the colour with not only the primary colour but also secondary which on many occasions I have found maintains detail where the channel mixer option has trouble. Its available for 30 days trial if youre interested. II used to live in Tw myself in 98/99 but didnt really get have the photography so strongly in my blood then. regards Craig / Beijing Link to comment
