I was out Shooting around London's Soho district Monday and I came across a crowd gathering just outside of China-Town.

I asked one of them what had happened and was told that 'he' (The Man on the floor.)had just been mugged, when I looked I noticed that this felled chaps right eye was cut and beggining to show the signs of bruising, he was semi conscious; he had a group of Samaritans attending to him of which one was calling the emergency services.

This area of London is notorious for pick pockets and the occasional bag snatching but a daylight vicious assault is not the norm, whoever did this has no doubt been caught on camera as this part of London is cctv'd to the hilt and so they should be expecting a visit from the friendly boy's in blue within due course.

I really find the stories behind your pictures so interesting. It adds so much more to viewing them when you know what's happening. You also leave enough in your compositions to let the viewer "discover" little things about the environment around the main subject. In this one, the man on the right is just enough in the composition to be important - cropping him out would lose an element. He looks concerned, yet also is staying back like he's not sure he wants to be involved, so his "partial" body works to enforce this. The lady's legs again are an important piece of the picture because her pose is similar to the man on the right - partially there and partially held back.

Hugh, this is a sharp capture. You're quick on the draw. The care and concern here is heart warming and a good reminder of the good in people as well as the bad. There's a little added irony in the sign 'Take Away'. I lived in England for 20 years and was burgled four times, but fortunately never mugged. Good street photography with lots of sharp detail and contrast. In fact it's so well layed out I first thought it was some kind of filming.

Unfortunatly, the scene is sad but your image is perfect at my eyes : timing, composition, exposition, subject and more... A great street picture.

remarkable photograph, well captured, the man on the right edge with his hand on take away is a perfect compliment/statement to the incident

I'm not so accustomed to see people in the street trying to help a man in trouble, rather the opposite. A rare shot, at least for me, and a great example of street photography.

You know, Hugh, maybe, it's better to replace some of your pictures with smaller versions using "Edit Image Info". So you preserve the comments and ratings you already have, the "Larger" button disappears, and the quality is getting better. Regards. Blago

A moment of dispear for the man on the floor has become a photojournalism report for you. An amazing image with a powerful story to go with it. Clear and very well composed. Warm regards.

Thanks for viewing, as for the title 'Street Robbery' that is what happened and if you read my comments directly under the title you will understand why.

These three gentle men where there to assist this man in his moment of need I a little later to document this beautiful act of human compassion.

I am sure that anyone who views this knows that there is no connection to wrongdoing by these Samaritans.

Regards
