Tiger swallowtail on tiger lily ----folded wings to me are the best

composition, but the topside of the wings are more colorful!!

Compromise at what angle?

Lovely composition and light. I read once about the time of day or temperature or something determining whether a b-fly's wings are open or closed at rest, but I forgot what it was.

---thanks for your comment, Scott. This dude was feeding, his wings were going like a pump. I shot several, late in the evening. Never heard that about the time of day in reference to wing position at rest ---now I will watch for it.

I think you should try shooting them both ways. The lighting was good, and the color superb. Nice photo.

Always difficult to get a good butterfly picture. Let alone have the butterfly on a nice flower. Good Job.

I've tried many times to get a good butterfly picture of a tiger swallowtail and they never sit still long enough. I give you all the credit in capturing this moment on film. Keep up the good work!
