geopappas 0 Posted February 15, 2004 I know how hard it is to capture birds in flight (since I have taken quite a few). To be able to get the head and eyes in perfect focus is great. Plus, I like the blurred wings since they give the idea of motion. I'm not too sure how I feel about the background, but I didn't subtract anything because of it. Is the duck landing or taking off? His body posture looks like he is landing, but the water droplets off of his bottom seem to indicate that he is taking off. Link to comment
ellis49 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Tanks for your nice comments The duck is taking off Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Doesn't get much better than this. Well done. Link to comment
trevor_hopkins 0 Posted February 15, 2004 Duck photography at its very finest. The movement in the wings is superbly captured. The background works a treat, offering complementary colours and a diagonal to support the direction of flight. Very well done. I'm envious. Link to comment
jamesmorophotography 0 Posted February 16, 2004 great capture! this is definitely not an easy shot to get. good framing too, w/ the diagonal of the water/snow and the duck's upward motion/body position. just curious: what manipulations did you do to this? Link to comment
ellis49 0 Posted February 17, 2004 Tanks all for your nice comments The manipulations is level , contrast, little USM and i have used the crop tool. Link to comment

deozmac 0 Posted February 18, 2004 Gert - what superb technique to have captured the head and body in perfect focus, the blurred wings. I like the background with its dramatic division of colur and the contrast with the feet. The finishing touch for me is the water droplets scattering as the bird decelerates. Wish I could achieve such a result! Link to comment
karen_siebert 0 Posted March 16, 2004 Gell - your work is just simply incredible. The clarity, sharpness and saturation on your images absolutely impecible. I would love to be able to take shots like this, but somehow mine never come out this sharp and crisp. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated. What iso do you use and how do you focus so well on moving subject? Regards, Karen Link to comment
ellis49 0 Posted March 22, 2004 I use manual focus , you have guess where the duck will come , prefokus and hope it works. You will have to take alot of pictures I used ISO 400 Good luck Link to comment
