Self Portrait (Studio)

This picture was taken with a flash bounced into an umbrella on the

camera's left. A gold reflector was placed to the camera's right.

Is there too much contrast between the left and right side?

Too much contrast?

If you ask me there isn't nearly enough. Your skin tone seems to be very similar to the background you're using. The background is also very bright. This means that the only thing that breaks this pattern is you shirt, which tends to draw my eye first.

The lighting across your face is fine, but try playing around to get deeper shadows or a more balanced look and see which of the three you like more.

Give it another try with a different background if you can, play around with the lighting a little, and you should be able to get something really nice.
