Getting blood from a stone

ian cameron

The hackles were rising on my neck as I realised with increasing excitement that there was just enough room for the sun to sink beneath low cloud before it set. I stared in disbelief as blood red light bathed the sandstone butte, the show lasted less than a minute and not another soul had seen it.

Wasn't it Adams that said something about being in just the right place when God needed someone to release the shutter? Great photo....sometimes serindipity is a photographers best friend.

Outstanding shot, you should be very pleased. The blue haze at the horizon and the pinks and purples in the sky make for a nice backdrop to the main event.

I am so glad you put this on here, as I have seen it elsewhere, and glad to see that it is doing well on here also, its a fabulous shot and you must be really proud of it.

One of the benefits of living in the Southwest is great sunsets like this. Glad you were able to capture it on film. Moose Peterson uses the circular polarizer with an intensifier filter or a warming filter for extra pop in his photos.

Majestic and calm shot. The monument looks great in deep-red colors and sky behind is like "out-this-world". Congratulations Ian
