Nina, absolutely fabulous capture. Like the previous poster I don't have a clue why some people commenting are using words like scary, disturbing and what not...

The look in her eyes intrigues me. I keep wondering what's going through her little mind.

Well done! I hope and wish that someday I'll be able to capture images like that.

Congrats!

Nina, wonderful, wonderful image(s). I have burnt much film since first viewing this image. I'm inspired. But tell me, is your daughter always co-operative with your picture taking? Mine sure isn't! ;^))

Paul M.: She's usually pretty co-operative when I take her pictures, but like most kids her age she gets tired of it all really quick. I always ask if she's up to it, and if she don't want to play I respect that and save it for later.

We often compromise though. If there's something she really wants to do I promise her we can do that as soon as we're done. Or she will get some cookies or whatever... hehehe. Makes her hang in there for a little while longer and letting me get my pictures.

Sometimes we just talk about issues that she finds interesting, or I ask her if she's able to look really mysterious, funny or whatever :) (Oh - and I have tons of pictures of her making faces at me - not because I want them - but because she thinks it's funny to look at them afterwords)...

Thanks again to everybody :)

There should be exceptions to the 7/7 rating..

8/10? I think on her right side, or your left? the tuft of hair casts a shadow into the eye that looks somewhat like a shiner, sort of distracting to me. Other then that, this is a wonderful shot.

I think this is a great picture. Though I do believe that a very interesting part of this is the fact that you can see the photographer's reflection in her eyes. You could turn that into something with the title such as "Eyes only for you". But very cool pic!

When I look at your work I want my granddaughter to come over so that I can photograph her.

Denne jenta har virkelig blikkfang. Fortsett her. Burde nesten kunne hatt en utstilling på bare denne modellen! Flott. Og gratulerer med POW.

The quantity of comments alone say it all. Not to mention the diversity of same. There is no doubt, Nina, you have evoked an emotional response from those who view your photograph. Congratulations----you have done something I have as yet only dreamed. One,,,,, anyone,,, can take a picture of a child. Only an artist can breath to it a soul.

Best regards

This type of picture has been done soooo many times before. Six billion people in the world and everyone thinks they have a nice shot just by taking a picture of a deadpan look of one of them.

Unlike Chris Merk, I love the photo. Her beautiful eyes are obviously the best part. From the second I saw the photo, I was speechless. I think that the hair is another aspect that really makes the photo. It evens things out a bit. Her coat accents her face when in B&W. The shape of her face is pleasing and the shadow under her eyes provides a contrast for her bright eyes. Her expresion is simple yet it makes the photo what it is. In the middle of all this is her georgeous, bright eyes. This photo isnt just good, its the best photo ive seen yet. It definitly deserves Picture of the Week.
