jbs 6 Posted February 3, 2004 Pastels and Reflections...the amount of dark forground is the only draw-back, still...a very nice photo... Link to comment
wingell 0 Posted February 3, 2004 I agree that the foreground seems a bit "heavy", but it's still a very lovely image. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 3, 2004 Thanks very much guys. Yes, I agree about the dark foreground, but I felt I should sacrifice it for sky and water, which would have been blown out and lost impact. C'est la vie. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted February 3, 2004 Beautiful and peaceful - nice colors and reflections. Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted February 3, 2004 A very beautiful image Hanna, I don't mind the darkness, the color and reflection are stunning. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 4, 2004 Hanna, your pleasing image can use a strong visual anchor or focal point. An image editor can be used to restore detail captured by your digital camera yet unresolved to keep the highlights good as you said. The foreground water can be separated from the dock and the chain post can serve as the focal point... best regards - Gary Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Gary, that's a definite improvement. How about some tips. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 4, 2004 Hanna, on this I used PhotoImpact... made a softened selection of the dark water area, copied and pasted it onto a new "canvas", "levelled" (brightened) the copy 75%, cut and repasted that atop the selected area and fully blended (replaced) it. Ask, any time - Gary Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 4, 2004 Okay, I guess I can't put it off any longer. I'm just going to have to get out the manual. Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted February 5, 2004 Hanna, a beautiful image, both before and after Gary's modifications. Link to comment
mcgarity 0 Posted February 4, 2005 Its a gorgeous photo. I guess I am in the minority because I happen to like the way the foreground is so dark. I think it adds to the appeal. At least it does for me. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 5, 2005 Thanks again to recent visitors. I'm always happy to see the old uploads get dusted off. This is still one of my favourites, mainly because the photo reminds me of being there, which was sooo much better. Link to comment
