Wanna drink ?

This shot gives me a lot of sadness...I don't know why...maybe because he reminds me the images of addicts to heroine...

I like a lot the two convergences in perspective. One from the soft-drink and child and the other one at the background.

Me encanta los tonos... pero la mano derecha quedo demasido ... yo cortaria la parte derecha... esas verticales... a lo mejor una foto vertical hubiera sido lo ideal... cuidando las diagonales con las esquinas de arriba... de todas formas muy buena y me encanta.

I like the 'reportage' feel to this photograph. I probably would have gone and tried to swing the lens a bit more to the left to get a more dramatic feel of the wall extending out behind the boy.

is this an ad for sprite? ... a case of doing it for the camera i am afraid.

Very original and authentic! I really like this shot, it could be sold to the Coca-cola company to make an ad for this product! :-)

There is no intention for an AD, it s just a natural and real shot, of a young boy, who was thursty during a sunny day. There is no composition here. I can understand your reaction, your feeling, but I cannot understand that your reaction, against US product can be so strong to evaluate that this is a so bad shot. What do you think about this shot, If I remove the brand? What's wrong and what could be your comment to improve it? So, I feel confortable, and I am not afraid for my Leica.

Hi Frederic. I'm going to take you at your word that you sincerely want advice on how to improve this, and because this photo is well worth doing so, and perhaps resubmitting! I very much like the immediacy and spontaneity of this. Mainly, I suggest that you crop the clutter at the right because it not only competes for attention but disrupts the wonderful horizontal feel to this photo, which gives the sense of "active" movement by the boy who's simultaneously thrusting the soda can toward us (and, with the crop, the can dynamically is placed in the center!). Also, I suggest you lower the contrast by about 10% or enough to recapture detail in the child's eyes, especially the one in shadow, because his expression is critical to the feel of this photo, too. Thanks Gary. Thanks a lot. Several people suggested me this crop. BTW, I have a big problem with this Neg. I failled the process developpement, and I couldn t scan it. I asked to a friend to try with his scan and he could save this pic. So, I just have a low resolution. I cannont work on it a lot. I cannot change too much the contrast. I am happy about your comment and evaluation. I have never thought this photo could works. It´s just my son...........original attached

Frederic; please dont be upset at my previous comment. For me, this just smacks of an advert - that is the first impression I have. Sure, if it was another object, then the impact would be different.

 

I tend to go on gut reaction, not hair-splitting technicalities most photo.net users are far too pre-occupied with.

 

And although the boy could be offering you a drink, the fact that the 'Sprite' label is so neatly positioned to be so readable does make it look like an advert.

 

I would prefer an image of the boy without the can; he has a photogenic face.

 

I don't value the crop advice others give you - stick with what you shoot and aim to shoot better rather than relying on too much post-development editing would be my advice on this.

 

But as for the image, I don't see how the background provides any context to the subject.

Es mi hijo, solo esto. No hay ninguna intencion para nada. Esto es en frente de la Iglesia Santa MAria del MAr, esperanco amigos. Este carrete es un Carrete de pruebas para afinar mi proceso de revelado con TRiX, que aun me falla. Ya esta. Tan simple la razon.
