Vanity (cyanotype version)

gauthier

Cyanotype. Contact printed from a 4x5 negative on a hand coated emulsion, then exposed for UV light (the sun) for over an hour. The picture was partially bleached in sodium bicarbonate. Temperature was very cold today (-18 C) and the paper wouldn't stay flat, leading to a strange, simplified version of my recent "Vanity" shot. (Uploaded January 26, 2004).

A very soft and mysterious cyanotype. The technique is usually sharp,

but this picture was sun printed by -18 C and the frost made the paper

a bit cyrly!
