bad breath! that is wht she is thinking, ask her you will find out it is true. the shot is a nice snapshot and nothing more, it captures the moment and some expression but the lack of physical cotct betweent he two forms negative energy, the smile on the bride looks forced, as if the message being shared between them is one sided. If you have another chance to take this same shot don't. Instead let it be captured by the video guy.

Don,

I don't know where you got this impression of bad breath and of this general whiff of negativity. I witnessed this scene myself, obviously, and I also know the bride personally. Believe me, whatever he was saying to her, I seriously doubt that she was thinking of her dad's bad breath, the fact of which is highly questionable to begin with. The bride was just about to walk down the aisle with her father and his words brought a happy smile to her face. That's all I could see.

To me, the lack of physical contact underlines and brings in relief the verbal communication between the father and the daughter. It makes the whispered words almost audibly perceptible since it is the only "contact" going on here. I also think the hands dynamically charge the image and bring more character to it, especially the father's suspended hand, all weathered and seasoned-looking as contrasted with the delicate, effeminate one of his still unmarried daughter.

The reason why a shot like this should be relegated to the "video guy" is beyond me. What should then a photographer capture?
