palmi 0 Posted January 7, 2004 Great, I think the contrast is perfect for the mood of the photo. Great photo Rene. Link to comment
the grey house 0 Posted January 7, 2004 VERY IMPRESSIVE INDEED...The dark mood just oozes out of this photograph - superb. I'm not sure about the framing, but fabulous work either way 7/7. Link to comment
thomas_collins1 0 Posted January 7, 2004 I've spent too much time watching Lord of the Rings because that is what this image reminds me of. A very dark and moody image you have created here. I can practically invision a monster rising from the swamps. I would love to read more about how you created this. Link to comment

jonas_nielsen 0 Posted January 8, 2004 Meget flot og veludført billede. Perfekt "gyseragtig" stemning :) Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted January 8, 2004 First of all, Jonas has it absolutely right! This is a terrific study, and man could you ever get gigs doing fantasy illustration! But the seam on the guy's hood is dead out of the twenty-first century and tends to spoil the effect. A seamstress from any of the medieval roleplaying organizations could make you a nice authentic looking one. Link to comment
daniel vinklars lefteye. 0 Posted January 8, 2004 oh! it's like from the Lord of the rings movie! :-) impressive! Link to comment

1000wordsphotography 0 Posted January 9, 2004 Wonderful mood and toning. Far be it from me to give advice to such a successful photographer, but I would like to see the hood/cloak have a bit older appearance, perhaps tattered even. He looks like he might be the grim reaper, allowing passage over the River Styx. Link to comment
garrylewis747 0 Posted January 9, 2004 Very Pictorialistic. Mortensen would love it. Adams and Weston would hate it. Link to comment
triple_mmm84 0 Posted January 9, 2004 I read comments about this photo relating to Lord of the Rings...but they are mistaken...in my opinion. The title "none shall pass" comes from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the part where King Arthur meets the dreaded black knight. Anyway, back to the photo, I love the expression on the man's face...it's the first thing I look at. That expression sets the mood for the rest of the photo, namely, the background.. Superb!
