Good colors. Nice definition in the face. (Good light sculpting.) I think there are compression artifacts in the background.

Oh, yeah... I posted a 99kb image and the owners of the site have this GREAT software that CHOPPED it down to 33k.

This is a perfect photo, in my opinion. The space works perfectly, the colors are excellent, the contrast is excellent. Just perfect. My favorite.

I was drawn to the colors and placement immediately. The olive background enhances all the details. Placing her well to the right works with the interesting colors, expression, leaning backward position, and mood. One of my favorite portraits on this site...

Definitely one of the strongest photographs I've seen on photo.net in quite some time!! It argues well that it's not just a striking model that can get high marks but a striking use of space, pose, color and tonality that further enhances her beauty. Well done!!

I really wish I lived in Illinois because I really would like to see your images on film. There is just no way the JPEGs can do them justice.

This is very nice. Clearly what separates this shot from others is the colors of the image. They all match so well. Congrats to your woman who coordinated a sophisticated yet very feminine ensemble. The peacock feathers in the hair are the coup de gras for the entire outfit. Really well done.

This is not your best image however. First, and admittedly this may be due to the scanning of the original and hence my disclaimer at the top, her skin tones match those of a mannequin. The combination of the neutral background and her very smooth features make her skin feel very cool. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but in the context that you use to shoot your models it distracts from the elegance and femininity that you use so well as a theme.

Second, the placement of her right hand is uncomfortable. Her pose is very dynamic and engaging as she looks over her right shoulder at the camera. Her left hand stretches across her waist and her fingers extend elegantly across her hip. However, her right hand just rises over the left, bends and disappears. The angle is hard and does not match the elegance and lines throughout the rest of the image.

That all being said, or perhaps nit picked depending on your perspective, this is a very lovely image.

I remember reading a comment someone posted on another image of yours that you were the best portrait photographer on this site. I had to laugh when I read it at the time. Then I went and checked out your portfolio. Mea culpa! I really think I have to agree.

And this image is of course quite stunning. But not for the model (who is beautiful in her own right), but for the exceptional use of color. Every detail, right down to her eyes...really well done. I realize we're supposed to offer a critque, but I can't think of a thing to change.

Robert. I still do. I have prostituted myself to color photography for one night. It was a matter of life and death. You must admit- I used very little of it! :)

I think with your dislike of color, you came up with something pretty amazing because of it... very muted. Amazing work.

The color of the shirt + the olive tone of her skin, and the hair thing...perfect. The tones of the backdrop are amazing as well, as is the woman....:)

I personally dont like this overall image much - the pose is great, the look - good. I think it would be better as a vertical crop to the model. She looks like she's falling backwards.

That negative space to the left doesnt hold the image together but rather loosens it up.

I prefer this cropped version.

of course we all know that the suggested crop in the message above is a nonsense! keep the beautiful original. it is so good! so clean and so nice, speaking of both composition and tonality. very very nice!

Peter- I respect your opinion, but you are just wrong! :) One should always spend more time trying to develop a style and less reading books about basics of photography, otherwise one will only be able to become a hometown portrait worker and not a real pro.
