Guest Guest Posted January 6, 2004 This is just about as good as it gets. I love the saturated colors. I love the composition. I would like to see this exact same scene done with a large format camera. Scenes like this require some effort to get to the area where the scene exists, then some planning and a little luck for the light and weather conditions to be right, then, of course the technical and artistic know-how to get it on film. Great job. I can't think of how you would improve it. Link to comment

mark_jordan3 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Congratulations Kurt, you've indeed done this magnificent place some justice with this shot! I really like the 24mm perspective used here also. Link to comment
ryan_thompson1 0 Posted January 6, 2004 I love the Bells...too bad they have been shot a ba-zillion times! Good job though! Keep work like this up...find a less shot area! Link to comment
california-seascapes-photo 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Beautiful Kurt, I like the foreground saturation. I spent 2 days here in early October and my photos didn't turn out nearly as good. The only small thing I think might improve this is that the light on the bells seem a little harsh, "but im reaching". If I remember right you have to wait until about 10am or so before the valley sees much light. Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted January 6, 2004 thank everyone for the nice comments. Steven, you are right about the a little harsh ligh condition. This was taken around 8:30am, 1.5-2 hours after the first light on the bells. However, it may take that long to let the sun light lit the whole valley. I have been there for three times, all together 4 nights. And the lighting on the left side of the valley was always a problem for me. So far, the best photo of this area in the autumn which I have seen is on a much like 'overcast' day( from Outdoor Photography). On a regular clear day, the contrast between the dark area and the bright area is a issue under early good lighting condition. :) Link to comment
wakeforce 2 Posted January 6, 2004 I must say I'm impressed... I wouldn't change anything! Great work! Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted January 7, 2004 Eye-catching wide angle composition Kurt. I can well believe autumn would be marvelous here. I agree the light is a little harsh but can see it's not an easy spot to get good light. Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted January 7, 2004 Well composed, with rich, deep and appelaing colors. The only pick is (as mentioned by others) the light at the mountain top, but you have got the best out of it. Regards! Link to comment
saratogatravel 0 Posted January 7, 2004 I never tire of these scenes when they are well done. The detail and color on this are great. Your sky is also terrific. Sometimes you Velvia guys get carried away with filters and saturation. Link to comment
cat32 0 Posted January 8, 2004 I always thought I need a better camera.... You just make me realize how stupid I am... This is just great! Link to comment

WJT 653 Posted January 8, 2004 Really beautiful Kurt! I especially like the wide angle's DOF with the green leaves in the foreground. Great, clear reflection in the water too. Regards. Link to comment
michael_ritchie 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Kurt what a beautiful composition! Mountains reflected in a pristine lake I love it! Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted April 14, 2004 Had to return to take another look at this one Kurt. How do you achieve such depth of colors? They do not look like you have done so by just increasing the saturation values in PS. Regards, Mister Ken Link to comment
