I like the atmosphere, nice successful light painting. The old piano captured well (my first piano looked just the same, only candles were real...), tight composition gives nice sense of intimae. Very good details on hands, they are... almost playing... Did she played and stopped in the middle or it was long accord in the end of sonata? Deep thinking... The music is there.

I am glad you notified me of this post. Enjoyed it. Hope for some more in this series.

Happy New Year and many good pictures.

I like this a lot actually.. it has a dark, gothic feel to it (for me, anyway).. probably because of the candle sconces (of course, it would've been more authentic had they been real candles..but you can't have everything unless you cheat with PS :) Very unusual piano I must say, I've never seen one with sconces attached to it before. Is it real? The hands don't look like they're playing because they lack the "arch" normally associated with playing.. so that grabs my attention a little in an uncomfortable way. Details aside, I have to say what appeals to me the most is the mood of this photo. If it weren't for the piano keys, I'd almost be hearing an organ in my mind creating that creepy, gothic, horror-movie like feel all around. (Maybe I just have an overactive imagination? ;-)

The piano and all arounf is real as can be seen . The candles are actually real ones too. The long exposure made them looking a bit different ..

Wow, that's pretty cool (re: real candles) Now I feel transported a couple of centuries back! :) Was there any additional lighting other than the candles?

As the tech info says ..it was light painted. With a small hand halded light source. Candles were main flood / ambient light ..the hands and white pages and the keyboard was light painted .

Beautiful, enchanting photograph. I love it. Admittedly, as a pianist myself, I'm a bit biased, but as a photographer I'm especially impressed.
