alecee 0 Posted January 2, 2004 Cambodia is one of the very few places in Asia which is still far from the tourist crowds. The people are friendly and the monks understand English unlike other neighboring countries. Link to comment
aghman 0 Posted January 2, 2004 There seems to be too much going on the in this image. It could have been improved if the person had posed closer to the statue, which would have allowed you to show more detail on both, while keeping some of the background. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted January 2, 2004 Well Austin. The beauty of it is this picture is unposed. He was just sitting there enjoying the scenery when I shot him as he turned around to see me. He is not offended in any way and we had a nice chat afterwards as the sun went down. Link to comment
nevilleb 0 Posted January 3, 2004 Given the fact that the statue is a muted grey, the eye does not rest on it and is instictively drawn to the red color of his robe. It is a nice imae - good work. Just wondering if a bit of fill flash - maybe with FEC of -2/3 of a stop would have helped. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted January 3, 2004 Probably so Neville but then again the shadows cast by the flash will make it not natural. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 4, 2004 In this one I like specially the colors of the sky Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 5, 2004 Alec, what I like about this photo is how the monk's relaxed pose mimics the statue's shape, and how the square frame balances and relates the two. Problems are the edge merger of the middle tree and the variation of sky hues, with multiple blue, magenta and cyan tones. By the way, thank you for the heads up on the Barbados girls photo. I re-tweaked the levels and adjusted red to offset cyan. Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted January 5, 2004 Agree with Gary about the hue of the sky and trees in the middle. A little more light on the main object would make it stronger. I love the subject and composition is really effective. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted January 6, 2004 Thanks again for your visit and comments. I am very honored coming from you; Gary, Pedro and Kurt Yang who to me are some of the top photographers in photo.net. Now that Gary mentioned it, yes it is coincidental that the angle of the monk's head is tilted similar to the statue. It's difficult to get more ambient light in the evening and I'm lucky to get this shot. Perhaps by changing this image to sepia tone I can brighten the scenery as well. I'll try it. Link to comment
