root 0 Posted January 1, 2004 Square crop for a 'symmetry' competition. Also have a 2:1 version with two more windows to the left. Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted January 1, 2004 As usual, well done. One comment. Something about the large pink window being in the middle bothers me. I would think offset a little to the left or right would be the way to go. Can you explain your reasoning behind the composition? Link to comment
vincetylor 0 Posted January 1, 2004 I think this one is very interesting. In particular the vertical lines on the roof going against everything else. I agree that the pink detracts somewhat from this over-all, but again it still works. I think the crop-sharpen may perhaps strengthen this as well. Just an opinion. Nice work! PS-Sorry, I see your crop is for a competition. Just consider the Nik pro sharpening aspect then. Aloha. Link to comment
root 0 Posted January 1, 2004 I've just finished working on a less severe crop that includes another window on each side and reduces the pink cast a bit. It reduces the prominance of the the gable somewhat so the composition isn't quite so top heavy. I like square formats though, even if not genuine 6X6 captures, and although I agree that this framing doesn't need quite as much base, as you've noted, it became necessary to avoid what I think is an awkward aspect ratio. Now, let's get back to our other debate !!! Just kidding. ;-) Link to comment
