Ghosts by the pond

I know digitally modified images often aren't well-received here, but

I thought I'd try anyways. This image was modified in the Gimp

(open-source Photoshop-like package) to remove the images of the

people sitting by the pond, but *not* their reflections. I also

removed the glare from some of the lights, but I think that's less

noticable.

 

I kind of like the end result - what does everyone else think?

I love it! The image is attractive in the first place and there's nothing better than taking a closer look and finding elements like those reflections. Almost hidden but once you notice they make the image. I would adjust the tilt though, the lean is distracting to me.

 

 

Digital, but very interesting nevertheless! A shame you revealed the most intriguing aspect of this photo before we get to see it ! Very original idea. Well done. Maybe you can try to manipulate the colors so that instead of a warmth surrounding the whole scene, turn it cold, and eerie.

I like it from both an aesthetic and originality point of view, but I wonder if a tighter crop would help -- not sure I would've noticed the ghosts without your comment.
