Hard to say how you could improve your work. You've done brilliantly here in my opinion in terms of exposure. I've no idea how you lit a scene like this?

For me, it's the scene itself that's the limiting factor. By having so much detail throughout the image, there are potential distracions everywhere.

Possibly, by lighting a couple of items and silhouetting the rest you could have all the benefits and none of the drawbacks. But I don't know what YOU want to show in a scene like this. Is it the complexity? Or the unique shapes created? Or the unusual lighting effects?

Regardless, I'm impressed with what you've done. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

All the best, keep shooting, G

the addition of your travelog is a a nice extra touch. It is cool when you are excited enough about what you are doing to want to share. Thanks.

Chris, Would it bother you if someone rated this photo a 3 and didn't leave a comment explaining why? Especially when you specifically ask for comments.

Chris, I wasn't asking about the low rating. What bothers me is when someone gives a photo a low rating and then doesn't bother to give any thoughts or explinations. To compound that, the person that gave the low rating without explinations asks for comments on their own photos. It's just the hypocricy that is bothersome.

Hiya Chris! Considering you're in a cave and imagining the lighting conditions, I think this is a very cool shot. I really like the clarity, texture and sharpness in all of the "gothic" formations as well as the toning and shadows. It works simply as a well-executed informative photo, but could also work as a artsy 3D abstract, IMHO. Did you happen to get any close-up shots of any of these formations? I'm really intrigued with this cave, thanks to your photos, and planning to pay a visit to this place myself!
