Smile for the Camera
Schooling Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks. While intimidating, they are very timid creatures. Hunkering down in the rocks, you need to stay still, lest any movement betray your presence. As they come closer, you must hold your breath so your bubbles don’t scare them. In the days of Nikonos Film Cameras (and a roll of black and white), you had to hope one came within your set focal distance. Then you snapped one photo, and your flash would scatter them, leaving you to start breathing and waiting, again.
