Firenze Sunset

brian_klein

No tripod, filter or plan. The night was absolutely perfect, and I thought that the low-flying cloud in the center gave the typical sunset shot more depth and interest.

I liked this picture because of the lower, darker central cloud

(unaffected by the brighter, higher clouds behind), the vibrant colors

and the sleepy darkness of the buildings nearby. Any thoughts on

making this shot better the next time would be appreciated. I would

have liked more detail in the buildings, but I was caught without a

tripod or a place to set the camera, so my exposure time was limited.

It is a little too late and dark, and to really make a pic like this sparkle, the water needs to be still enough to give that mirror effect. Also, it would help of the bridge was lit up some with street lights or shop lights of some kind.

It's not bad at all. It's just not great.

Hmmm...I think that the other comments are valid, but perhaps a bit harsh. I like the photo. I was immediately drawn in by the colors.

Perhaps a graduated filter would have helped here. I think that a neutral density filter might have given you the opportunity to turn a pretty good shot into a great one without washing out the sky's color.
