may 0 Posted December 19, 2003 may be try a closer crop? what is the motive of the picture? Link to comment
ray . 58 Posted December 20, 2003 I guess as with any photograph, the motivation is visual. Sorry people, I know this may not be a masterpiece, and everyone has a right to their opinion, but the fact that a string of 10 of you gave this photo an aesthetic grade no higher than a 4 is fairly amazing to me. I don't live and die by these grades by any means. I ask for critiques because I find it interesting to see how people respond to particular images, and to see which ones have a wide appeal. While I don't expect such a response for this photo, the consensus on it, nevertheless, tells me that a large portion of people on photonet are lacking in visual sophistication as it relates to photography. Have the vast majority of you gone no further than a Popular Photography aesthetic?? Link to comment
ray . 58 Posted December 20, 2003 ..(And, several minutes later)... Yeah, well, now that I've examined each of your own "visions"... it doesn't seem I was far off the mark. The answer to my last question is a resounding... NO! Link to comment
travis1 1,024 Posted January 15, 2004 Ray, I'd get closer to the machine and frame just the machine and my shadow. Im not sure it could be done but I think that's what I'd do anyway if I was there. SO that as if I was communicating with the machine... A sophisticated image, not widely appreciated, but you must have expected that? ;) Link to comment
ray . 58 Posted February 3, 2015 Wow, those comments of mine 11+ years ago (man has it been that long?) were pretty hard core. Yikes. Link to comment
