monarch, miss violet

nice monarch - haven't seen any here yet this year.

Hi G & V, nice to hear from you. Other than skippers and cabbage whites, haven't seen much of anything this year. Judging from other years, August will hopefully be better. I buy and plant perennials that are butterfly and hummingbird magnets and I'm still waiting!

Hi Vincent, thanks for writing. This was shot using a Canon 300 f4 IS lens. It's good for butterflies because it has a close-focus distance of only five feet. best regards, Bill
