william_blanchard 0 Posted December 17, 2003 I'm trying to develop my own sense of style, but feel I might be creating images from my subconcious? ie: Calvin Klein ads. Am I doing something with style or have I been influenced by too many magazine ads? Looking for some real constructive critics here. You can be harsh too, I have thick skin. I enjoy learning and seeing where I can improve. Link to comment
jeff leiper 0 Posted December 17, 2003 I think it's a lovely and well-exposed photo - if a bit commercial. Is the space to the right intended to hold ad copy? But, the expression on your model's face is intriguing and doesn't bespeak a generic reaction. I think you have an original piece, here, with the lovely square formed by the models' three arms that works as a pedestal for their faces. Crop it in a little to take out the extraneous background, and it could be a fascinating study. Link to comment
mnigro 0 Posted December 19, 2003 OK. First, lose the title in the lower left corner. Your pictures should speak for themselves. The people viewing them will draw their own conclusions. Second, keep your subjects to the right of your frame. The visual grid goes from the lower left to upper right so any blank space should be to the left of your image. Third, apply more blur to your background. All things considered, you make nice images and don't worry about what other people may or may not think. Follow your instinct and the visual grid and you will do fine. Link to comment
AntonioC 8 Posted December 19, 2003 I actually appreciate the magazine look in this shot, but I think you could further develop it by playing with your subjects eyes. In this case, it would be even more interesting if the girl was actually looking at you. Forgot to say, I like it very much. cheers Link to comment
heather_palmer 0 Posted December 19, 2003 Mabey you think that you captured a moment that seems like an advertisemnt but I beleive you captured a moment between two subjects that appers to be sincer and loving. I'm no expert but I think it is excelent and nothing needs to be changed Link to comment
peng_xu1 0 Posted December 19, 2003 You captured the moment. Hope to see more of your works uploaded. Link to comment
colleendonovan 0 Posted December 19, 2003 I think this is perfect the way it is. It's a great picture even if all the 'technical' details are wrong. Who cares which way we 'read' pictures. If it's a great picture then that's what it is. Link to comment
kelvin_nash 0 Posted December 19, 2003 "There is something about this image that I love." -- Tamara Loncar-Agoli Tamara, It's funny you say that, because this image has the same feeling as some of your images. I personally like the image a lot, but it does have a slight commercial feel to it. Link to comment
