Confusion says : concave or convex?

pt2

The red saturation has been increased on the upload, feels slightly more earthy like this. It was sharp prior to prepping for the web. PT needed to reduce file size substantially to keep it below 100 kb, so hope it doesn't show up overly soft.

Well I like the overall abstract quality. Not so sure about the suggestion of convex vs. concave. Makes me want to see all the pieces show that way. My mind only lets me see the shadow areas that way. Maybe that's all I'm supposed to see. Well I'm confused. Then again, I'm always like that... :)

And I know that this is a trigger word so I suppose I'm not supposed to see a "confusion" tie in?

Did I mention I really like this shot?

This is very nice, and I have little to add. I think this is deserving of being framed and hung. Any picture's most rewarding praise. I would love to see it in a series with other abstractions. Nice job PT.

My eyes see convex - at first glance the thumbnail looked like a layer of soap bubbles.

But then the (geologist's) thought process gets going (albeit a little slowly) and I arrive at concave (because of the fine rims and speckled appearance in certain areas)and that's the way it must be! So yes, there is scope for confusion here - despite the regularity of the patterns. A clever idea to find confusion in regularity.

I like the abstract as it stands, but I'm curious as to how it would be with a metallic look (less earthy so more confusing?). Can any PT's spray this with a magic can of silver paint?

The "what is it?" aspect would be stronger if you only showed areas where the polygons seems smoothest but it's fine just like this (the smooth zone runs nicely along a diagonal).

Now, where did you find that tortoise shell?

...for the feedback. Much appreciated as always.

PT Photographer did an alternative, colder, version especially for PT Dominique.

After looking at this photo for some time my frontal lobe is starting to burn and itch. I like this shot very much. I can't tell.
