Wow. The sheen on those rocks is amazing. Beautiful exposure and very pleasing composition. I like the surreal treatment of the subject.

Great work! Exceptional tones. Your photoshop work here paid off! The composition is excellent. Only think I would change if it were mine is to crop and loose the horizon. Try it and see what you think! Regards, Martin Paul.

Sorry to tell you Martin, there's no wizardry here. Just toning to duplicate the selenium tone of the original print. Thanks for your comment.

It's just amazing to me how fine work like this gets overlooked. Good art shouldn't need 'affective' gimmickry to get attention. And, I agree with Martin that boldly losing, or at least straightening, the horizon uplifts this image even more.

Beautiful image. I am being very picky but I do find the horizon at a mild slant...could just be me!

I love the tones and your composition. Well done.

Great comments. Many thanks for your support it is very encouraging.

A couple have mentioned the horizon slanting. I thought that too and used guides to level it. I suspect that the land mass on the right is creating the effect. If you cover the area with your hand it removes the doubt about level.

The mist affect was achieved by dividing the total exposure into 8 and exposing each shutter release when the waves were at a different level.

Great photo, great split-exposure technique, and great performance of MF. I am a medium format lover myself and I am glad that, at least in the MF department, film cameras still hold their ground against digital. However, I think that the most important piece of equipment for a shot like this was a sturdy tripod.

Gary, this one does it for me. I was surprised to see it's from a 6x6 image rather than LF as the detail is exceptional.

A lovely wet black look. Like crinkled leather and latex. And a more obvious lower right to upper left direction but with a sweep to the left the better to demonstrate a foreground. Interesting to read this comprises 8 exposures to one frame. Well controlled. I have no problem with the horizon. Ive seen a lot worse (and I mean a lot worse) and I guess its down to a mixture of lens and earth curvature most noticeable with the horizon very high in the frame. If theres more of the neg on the left, a minor tilt CW might bring it up perfect. If not, whos caring. Just look at the swirly mist and blackness.

An excellent version of a tried and tested subject! I like the 'crocodile's tail' effect of the main rocks and the multiple exposure technique gives more transparency to the water than a long single exposure, which is very nice. Very well done.

This is BEAUTIFUL. I love the motion in the water and the metallic look of the rocks; the composition is outstanding as well.
