michaellinder 16,612 Posted August 5, 2021 Hmmm - - shattered glass in comparison to a celestial event, i.e., a supernova. My eyes tell me that the comparison is ridiculous, but the rest of me feels that it's a valid one. DG, this is b&w abstract work that is compelling. Although I recognized the pattern that shattered glass takes, why not call the subject a supernova and be done with it? I suspect that the two sorts of events have at least one feature in common as the image demonstrates - an infinitesimal variety of the size of the shards and of the whatever physical elements constitute a star - primarily minerals and rocks, I suspect. - - My best always, michael Link to comment
DGorinstein 20 Posted August 7, 2021 Oh my....I so very much enjoy your comments, as they resonate with my fantasizing on one of my favorite subjects (astrophysics, Star Trek, NASA's space exploration, et. al.). I took the image because of that sensation you so sensibly refer to and saw how one might "see" the explosion of a Red Star (as our Sun), becoming a white dwarf, and then spewing pattern of the matter that constituted the star. So a bit of fun both ways, the imagination and the opportunity to make of it a BW photo, towards which I have a special bias, from my early years in the Dark Room. I cannot thank you enough for your constant presence and comments, which humble me and make me strive to keep taking photographs, especially from you, a seasoned expert in these matters. Thanks and Thanks again. DG Link to comment
