What is POW ?

 

POW means Picture Of the Week. You can easily see this kind of emotions behind some of *critique* when they discussing POW.

Without a doubt the original is the best depiction. If any type of border treatment was to be considered it should be ragged and torn...

You may look, for example at discussion about the current POW (http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1662169). You nightmair Natalja is a *normal* way (say *reality*) to socialize on photo.net, even when discussing POW. But take it easy, just some sort of side idea.

 

I wouldn't argue about the white border in this certain case, looks like Balaji is right. But I also wouldn't generalize this idea.

 

After I looked at this image one more time I also feel something strange, like if in B&W it became less light. Maybe just because the disappeared color changed light allocation? I realize that color is important here at least by the folder name. If to let it aside, would be interesting to know how do you explain to yourself why the color is critical, closer to reality? Sorry for stupid question, but I didn't quite get the point about color.
