Hi Carlos..I love the mystery of this! There are a couple of light stripes that may distract..aprt from that a great shot. I'm only new so tell me how you get that soft feel around the face..is this just make up or is it in the focussing ? Cheers, Please feel free to critique mine. Paul

If I were to nitpick I would remove that half circle of light between the nose and hood. That being said, this is beautifully done. The thumbnail caught my attention like a magnet

I like this photo. I think it is a wonderful concept and vision and for the most part well executed. For me, the lines of light on her (it's) upper lip and righ cheek are distracting from the texture of the skin (surface).

I sau it's a manequin because I looked at the rest of the folder. There is some great stuff there with well executed visions that I respect. But it seems to me that, and this really is just my opinion that.. the use of manequins is really just a good practice tool or exercise in learning.

To do the same thing with real people would really prove skill.

Do this same shot with the right model and you'll get 7/7 from me.

Thank you all for your kind comments. Yes, like I said before, the 'Rachael' folder's subject is, indeed, a manequin. I use it for testing and practicing purposes, but also for fun, so some shots I enjoyed them so much I share them with you in here. Since I'm really an amateur it's complicated to ask people to model for me. IF you happen to know someone here in Portugal, Lisbon, that would like to model for me, just email me. :-P Thanks

First of all fantastic picture. Perfect features on her, lighting, composition just perfect. Simple question for you: how far from her did you stand when taking the picture. I tried taking some similar pictures the other day at f4, but the pictures didn't come out the way I planned. Maybe I was too close to her. Thanks

Alain, I was standing more or less at 30cm of the subject, but I used some zoom also so it's hard to tell you exactly what was the distance because the Ixus 400 doesn't give you that much control or information. Cheers.

Most wonderful. I wonder about that circle of light on the cheek, I thing it would be interesting to remove it digitally.

Brilliant

Very strong composition.

Is there no way to get some tone in the blown highlights? A must do again image because it is so good.

Ok, I like the mood and the idea in this image. But I am disturbed by two things:

First are the spots of light on her noze, lower lip, chin and upper cheek. These spots of light are burned and you loose all the texture of her skin. To me, this is an issue in this image. Now, it can be a consequence of having to post an image of a small size.

The second is the loss of texture in the hood in the upper left. It cuts the image in half leaving an empty dark and detail-less area. Here too, it could be a consequence of having to see a highly compressed picture on a screen, but I felt the need to mention it anyway.

Happy shooting,

Steph-
