Your photo stimulated a question. Why are those stupid birds flying around the base of the falls? Isn’t that dangerous? Surprisingly, Google says the area is important for birds, especially gulls, with up to 100,000 gulls and 19 gull species. Part of the reason is that they feed on stunned fish that go over the falls. I’ve observed similar feeding by hawks at nearby waterfalls, especially after a big rain.

I see you did the homework, I guess they estimate the odds and it is worth to them to get food this way, despite the danger.
