The person is NOT distracting, and the signature is necessary!! Vincent ... I LOVE this photo. The ghost is SO significant to the meaning of this photo. Maybe only those of us who know the POWER of the Wall can understand it! Excellent image!!

Part of my appreciation for this image is knowing exactly what it is -- 55,000 brave souls who gave their lives -- each listed by name.

Couldn't you leave out the signature? This picture is a wonderful monument for those who sacrificed their life, not a monument for the photographer

I think your photo gives every credit to this great monument and to those to whom this monument has been set up. It leaves me with strange feelings and great respect.

I am very moved by the content of this image and the power within...but...this is a critique site and do have problems with the signature on this particular image Vincent. There are some things in life that belong to everyone, this happens to be one of them.

I don't like the fact that the closest panels are out of focus. I really wish that all the names were sharp. Otherwise, great exposure and composition.

A very original composition full of sentiment. Sad image but sadly real. My congratulations on a very different image from your typical ones that show how good a photographer you are.

Interesting comments concerning your signature, Vince. You must realise that as far as copyright protection goes a tiny squiggle in the corner poses no problem for anyone determined to remove it and steal your image, particularly on a shot like this. Watermarking is the only really effective method. As for acknowledgement, we don't have to look far beneath any image on PN to discover its author. And in any case, most of us have little difficulty identifying your handiwork from a page of thumbnails. I can usually spot your images from the other side of the room...

I don't think it's unreasonable of people to suggest you consider removing your signature from this picture. Of the thousands of names contained in this image the only one we can clearly read is yours. Viewers already conscious of the commercial interest you hold in your work may be distracted or even offended by this possible motive for your signature on an image that should be about quiet reflection and respect for the dead. Considering this is a memorial to a myriad of souls who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty, it seems insensitive of you justify including your name alongside theirs because it cost you a few thousand dollars to get there. I quite like the shot, by the way. Regards.

I salute you for a remarkable image; I salute you on behalf of the many friends I have listed on that monument and the many others also listed; it brings back memories of friends that are no longer with us. Please, no disrespect intended, I must concur with Trevor Hopkins regarding the signature and the aesthetics. Still, you did an outstanding job with the image and all the praise given you is indeed well deserved, my friend. By the way, thank you.

Great image. Personally I'm not so keen on the ghost but that is my view and I can see others like it. Also would hve preferred greater dof. But its a powerful and moving image for all that.

As a veteran, this really touches me. The ghost image is as surreal, yet deadly, as the wars this image symbolizes. Artistically and emotionally, this is a 7/7. Technically, I think this image could have be improved only with a f/64 view camera. Well done!
