A very good image-the delicate light on the grass is perfect to give the pic depth and character. and of course the lite through the trees is superb. Well Done!

Interesting contrast between the man in white tie and tails and the surroundings. Excellent contrast, tones and composition.

The toning is wonderful as is the idea and your rendering of it, except perhaps some areas which could have been dodged to give this a less somber feeling. The other thing that bothers me is the frame because the edge tones bleed into it. If the black frame is your preference, may I suggest a white pin-line on the inside edge of the black frame?

for all the comments and ratings :-)

Good suggestions Gary, though I'll have to look up the word somber before I can agree on that one.. If its means gloomy, I tend to like those images. As to the black border, I couldnt agree more. Its strange because I actually added a white inner glow to it, but its too weak on photo.net to be noticed.

The title came from this poem by Thomas James

Allen, which I thought went well with the picture:

"A foreigner from fielded lands

With prairie thoughts of desert sands

Who'd never seen a wood of oak,

He came to visit forest folk.

And in surprise he only sees

The mighty oaks and cypress knees,

Begged, "Someone will you help me please?

I cannot see the forest for the trees."

So I, a common forest folk,

Rustled in the leaves and spoke,

"Don't look into the wooden faces

Searching for the forest places;

Wander with the scented breeze,

Past mighty oaks and cypress knees,

Forget the timber your eye sees;

Our forest is the space between the trees."

The inner "glow line" (for separation) is visible through most of the Large version.

I appreciate this image. Initially it has "posed" written all over it, but that feeling tends to fade and I gained the sense of overwhelming surrealism : it feels almost like Buster Keaton walked across your field of vision - it really screams "magical, enchanting" : I seldom comment on photos outside the critique group to which I belong - this is an exception.

Please accept my congratulations on your fine creation - be proud. Regards.
