tyrianquill 0 Posted December 8, 2003 I am drawn to keep looking at this picture. The colours and tones, the lines and curves, but... I do admit that there is something I "feel" is off about it, I am not sure what it is though. Am very new to photography so it is just an uneducated opinion. Have an urge to view the place from a highter (and to the left a bit) angle I think, don't know why... just do. Anyways, I do like it... THANK YOU for sharing it.. Link to comment
msaunders76 0 Posted December 8, 2003 The colors are incredible. I'm just starting out with photography and I can't wait to shoot some velvia for the colors shown here. I too feel there's something "off" about this picture. I think it's the branches coming in from the left. They don't seem to add anything to the picture's composition. The colors are beautiful. I wish we had tress with those color leaves in North Dakota. Link to comment
alan chan 0 Posted December 9, 2003 I am drawn to this vivid colour of this scene - this entire red backdrop makes the Tudor Cottage a nice postcard. Link to comment
jacques_kriek 0 Posted December 9, 2003 I think the picture is perfect. The angle is just right. Makes me think of a beutiful girl with a bikini - Allthough you like the picture, you allways wish the picture shows more than it does. To me this picture does the same thing. Link to comment
stephen_websdale 0 Posted December 9, 2003 Thanks for all your comments and feedback. The cottage was built in the 18th century as a replica in the grounds of a stately home. the angles you can shoot this from are limited by a lake behind you, a steep cliff behind the cottage and several large trees. Ideally I would have shot it without the foreground branches but having no real choice I tried to use them to shoot through and as a frame. Thanks again - steve Link to comment
drew_gratts 0 Posted December 9, 2003 I saved the photo and view them on my 20 inch screen.. I got goose pimples... Wonderfull.. Link to comment
thpook 0 Posted December 10, 2003 I think that the branches become a necessary evil in this shot. If the branches weren't there, the bright red leaves in the top of the frame wouldn't be there, and the entire shot's balance would be off. Link to comment
pavs_. 0 Posted December 10, 2003 Once upon a time people used to use film cameras. Those who used film camera's knew about Fuji Velvia 50. This picture was taken according to the photographer using Fuji Velvia 50. Unfortunatley those who never seriosuly used film in their photography hobby will not know that this is a legendary film that brings colors too life. They will yawn with awe at how wonderfull the colours are and be ignorant as to why. This is a good photo and it goes to show how newer technologies may make life easier but they also breed people with a lesser understanding of photography. Link to comment
deozmac 0 Posted January 15, 2004 As a student ('77 eek!) I once shot a complete roll of Fuji slidefilm at Stourhead, and not one comes close to this. This shot really is IMHO very well composed. The colours stand for themselves. (Although I'm waiting on an EOS-10D, I'm going to buy some Velvia and use my Pentax Z-1 with it.) Link to comment
