1. Background is distracting. Not only do I not like seeing this white. . . structure. . . (and you've got a pole growing out of the guy's shoulder) but it's just too bright compared to the rest of the dark background.

 

2. Great sports photography is decided by fractions of a second, and here you're just a fraction of a second too late. See if you can get the ball just coming into his hands. Now that he already has it, the photo is pretty static. Get the ball just touching a fingertip or just beyond his reach and it's dynamic. A little more facial expression would help, too.

 

You're almost there.

 

Addendum:

Try using a film other than Velvia. The skin tones are too red when you use Velvia. Try Provia 100F.
