Looks to me like you know what to take a picture of, but your timing is off. The sky is dull, and over exposed. The foliage is kind of flat. This is nothing that can't be fixed with the right filters, or Photoshop. Use a polarizer to bring out the saturated colors, and crop most of the sky. I'll include a pic I hurriedly touched up to show you what these changes would do.
