erin.e 0 Posted January 14, 2004 Amanda, if your camera is fitted with a spot meter for exposure, take a reading off your subjects skin (or face in this case) open up the aperture one stop. A high shutter speed (1000th of a second or more is required to 'freeze' the cascading water and subject. You could also take a meter reading off your hand held in the same light as that falling on your subject. If your camera has aperture preffered Auto (AV mode) and a spot meter, set a wide aperture (f4 or wider)so the camera will pick a high shutter speed and meter off the skin or face. you can then transfer these settings to manual mode with +1 stop exposure compensation, and you should be somewhere close, Use 400 ASA colour neg film, it has a wide exposure latitude and will still give acceptable results with signifigant exposure errors. Fuji Professinal 400 NPH is one I have had good results from, but any neg 400 colour film should be o.k. Because your subject is at a fixed distance and can only move in an arc relative to you in the boat, careful use of manual focus is a good option Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted February 28, 2004 Nice spray. Reminds me of the good old days when I can get up on one ski and do the same slalom. Link to comment
gemccaw 1 Posted April 7, 2005 Another standout! I like the contrast between the plume of water and that which is relatively calm, also the lights, darks, graphic shapes and the way all are harmoniously balanced. I would imagine your subject was thrilled with this. Link to comment
