I have been experimenting somewhat with more of an abstract type of

nature photography lately. This was taken on the west side of

Glacier NP. Please let me know if you think this works or not.

Perfect, like a pen drawing, in the foreground, the painter started using colorful pens, but decided to leave the top part as is. I really like it.

Steven, A fine shot that I had guessed was made with a much longer lens than the 105mm. Guess it just has that compressed look. Good composition with the colour part occupying about 1/3 and the monochrome part about 2/3 of the space. The bright mid day sun combined with the Velvia (why do I always get the urge for crackers & cheese when I think about that film?) make this a contrasty scene with IMPACT. Love this type of landscape. Best, LM.

Steven, On second look I began to wonder what this one would look like with a little brighter colour on the bottom. What do you think of this one? Stonger? Weaker? Best, LM.

Thanks alot Len, Velveeta is what still keeps me to still using film, for now anyways. :-)

I like your version, but have recently begun to question what I am seeing on my monitor and what i'm uploading here. Yesterday I spent some time finding a few different computers to compare my portfolio here and was amazed at how much different the photos looked at each one of them, some being extremely dark. I have a spyder calibrator on the way and am also in the process of searching for a decent monitor, but from what I can see here I think I like the darker upper 2/3 of mine possibly mixed with the lighter/brighter lower 1/3 of yours or maybe just something somewhere in between both of them. Thanks for your time.

Steve, Yes, I probably did rush the curves a little but it does indicate that there is room for movement. The upper & lower parts should respond independently with a little diligence on the part of the person doing the PS adjustments.

Steve, this is well seen and greatly composed. Love both version. And the neat tree pattern really made it simple and elegant. Out of perfectness, I notice there are three pine trees in the left lower corner is a little bit not with the rhythm but still hard to notice. Great work.
