Excellent, high impact image. I really like the cropping and the subject angle. Good use of blur...more than emphasizing movement it seems to heighten the drama of the shot.

Thats a really good self potrait. I was wondering how u did it. The following questions arise in my mind.

1. (Obviously this is a timer shot) What did you focus on before triggering the shot?

2. Could the lack of a proper focus point have created the blur?

3. How did you avoid creation of shadows in the background

Well I must be one of them then. In theory there are a lot of things wrong with the picture, but the overall effect is really nice.

Well done Anne, this shot really jumps out and grabs you. Very creative.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Anne, wonderful self portrait. I love the pose, the blur effect works very well. Great portfolio, love all 3 shots - I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I love the picture ....it seems like every picture i end up liking here on photo.net was made by a woman! and then i end up finding out its a picture of the photographer like here also!! .....(by the way Anne there is nothing wrong with picture) for everyone else ...the effect can be done with photoshops motion blur effect and then you can select any area you wish to be in focus ....

Anne keep up the great work and lets see more!! (PS i love those old twin lens 2 1/4 cameras for shooting B/W ........)

Nice self portrait. I have to admit, the first time I looked at this I really thought the model (you) were a plastic store window type, and not real? Maybe it's the makeup and eye liner, and the dead-ahead gaze.

Anyway, you look good. My only comment is that you should re-take the picture with the Rolleiflex rather than the Canon.

I have 2 disrelated comments

First, this would be a great shot if the plane of focus was somewhere that made sense (even if the entire shot were a blur). I am sure you are not trying to draw the viewer's eyes to the camera strap.

Second, I think that the 2nd comment is hilarious. By "you look interesting" he of course means you are GORGEOUS and he wants to see more self portraits, I'm sure.

Good luck.

I once commented on the weight of one of John Peri's models. I regret that comment to this date. My comment was similar to yours. It is insensitive, and shows judgement on your part. I retracted mine, please do the same.

If the blur was done in camera, my interpretation is that you were rotating your face and body with the axis of rotation in the region of the strap, while you used a slow shutter speed(1/15th sec?) The effect is quite mysterious and interesting.

When I first saw this photo I thought the subject matter shows a beautiful model turning the table on the photographer and that she isnt the one doing the photo. How interesting to see an elegent woman being the shooter when she is herself should really be the subject of attention for many photographers.

It seems a small area in the centre are in focus while the rest of the image is blurred, did you use PS? The only thing I didnt like was your hand look massive due to the angle.
